You won't believe the unusual nickname Prince George calls himself!

Prince George was spending the day with his granny, Carole Middleton and his sister, Princess Charlotte, when he revealed he has a very unusual nickname that he likes to be called.

The five-year-old prince was out near Kate Middleton's home in Buckinghamshire, when he met a lady and her dog, and little George started to pat the dog and chat to its owner. 

The unnamed woman told the Sun, 'I was asked by a police minder not to take a photo of the children, which I didn't, but George started stroking my dog. 

'Just to be friendly I engaged in a bit of small talk and I asked George what his name was, even though obviously I knew it.

'To my astonishment he said "I'm called Archie" with a big smile on his face. I don't know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it's lovely.'  

Prince George is used to not being called George though and he has several other unusual nicknames too.

At his school, Thomas' Battersea in London, he is known simply as PG - a shortened version of Prince George.

Parents Kate and William then started calling him PG Tips or just 'Tips' after the famous brand of tea.

When she was pregnant Kate referred to him as 'our little grape'.  

The royal family often have nicknames for each other. Last year, Prince Charles revealed that George calls him Grandpa Wales, and Prince William called himself 'Steve' at university so he could blend in with everyone else!  

It's also been revealed that George's sister, Princess Charlotte, is to go to the same school as her older brother.

She has been at Willcocks Nursery in Kensington since last January and will enrol at Thomas's Battersea, which costs $11,000 a term.

It was reported last year that Kate and William might not send their children to 'traditional' royal boarding schools, like Eton, when they are older. Kate was bullied when she was at school and is determined to give the children as normal an upbringing as she can.
