Woolworths has announced that it will start handing out ‘Care Packages’ to elderly shoppers and those with a disability as the country’s coronavirus shopping crisis worsens.

From Thursday, vulnerable shoppers will be able to buy the packs - filled with essential groceries, including hard-to-find items such toilet paper - from the customer service desk at their local Woolworths.

To access the packs, elderly shoppers and those with a disability simply have to show their government concession bard.

Says Woolworths managing director Claire Peters: ‘As you'd expect these packages will include some of the things people have been panic buying, like toilet roll and pasta.’

The 'Care Packages' are available from customer service desks at your local Woolies, starting on Thursday.

It comes just a day after the supermarket announced that it would now offer a ‘dedicated hour’ of shopping for elderly shoppers and those with a disability between 7am and 8am.
