Product recall: thousands of Kia Carnival cars faulty

Over 12,000 vehicles affected.

Editor / March 17 2020

A huge recall has been issued for popular family car Kia Carnival.

The recall is due to a defect in the fuel rail.

Says Product Safety Australia: “The fuel rail in petrol vehicles may develop a small heat induced crack, which can result in fuel leakage.

If a fuel rail leaks, this can cause fuel to leak onto the road surface and cause a fire, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

Model numbers affected were available for sale from April 1 2010 through to December 31 2015.

Consumers should contact their nearest Kia Motors Australia dealer to arrange for inspection and repair of the vehicle.

Parts are due to become available in July 2020. Once parts become available, Kia will contact affected owners again, requesting that owners make an appointment to have the vehicle repaired.
