IKEA has issued a recall of their popular CALYPSO ceiling lamp. The manufacturer says it may pose a “risk of injury from glass breaking and falling to the floor or from contact with broken glass after the lamp shade breaks.”
Consumers who purchased a CALYPSO ceiling lamp after 1 August 2016 should carefully remove the glass shade and check the manufacturing date stamp on the lamp.
To find the date stamp, carefully pull out the moveable arm and remove the glass shade.
If the date stamp is between 1625 and 1744, consumers should contact their nearest IKEA store to organise an electrician to be sent out to remove the faulty lamp and replace with a new lamp.
Consumers can also opt for a refund if they prefer.
