Queensland man accused of fathering baby with 13-year-old girl
The man has been charged with six child sex offences
A 55-year-old Queensland man has been charged with historic child sex offences related to the death of a new-born baby in Kambalda, east of Perth, almost 25 years ago.
Police will allege the man sexually assaulted a girl, then aged 13, resulting in the conception of a baby boy who was born in July 1995.
The baby died just hours after birth with his body found in a caravan park.
In September this year a 38-year-old woman, the mother of the child, was charged with wilful murder.
On Sunday, WA detectives from the Cold Case Homicide Squad travelled to Queensland where the man was arrested and extradited to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.
"It will be alleged the man, who was known to the victim at the time, sexually assaulted the then 13-year-old girl, resulting in the baby being conceived," police said.
"It will be further alleged the man engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with the victim over a number of years when the victim was aged between 11 years old and 16 years old."
The man has been charged with six child sex offences including two counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13 and with engaging in a sexual relationship with a child under 16.
