Richard Mason was a married man with three sons he believed were his own, until a doctor told him he had been infertile since birth.

The discovery was made when the businessman was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.

After initial denials, his ex-wife admitted she’d had an on-off affair for four years with a colleague, but refused to reveal his identity and claimed they’d always used contraception.

The boys Mason believed were his biological sons are now young adults. One is 23 and there are 19-year-old twins.

“I still regard them as my boys even though I’m not their biological father, and I miss them so much,” he added.

The millionaire is offering a £5000 reward to help find the real father of his three sons.

After discovering that the boys were not his biological children, Mr Mason launched a paternity fraud case to recoup some of the £4 million his wife received in their divorce settlement.

His ex-wife Kate has agreed to pay back £250,000 in an out-of-court settlement, however the dispute has almost destroyed his relationship with his children.

“Imagine being told you are going to die and your three sons are not your own – my life fell apart,’ he said.”

Mr Mason has gone on to remarry, however tragically his new wife Emma is also infertile following a battle with cancer.
