The WEIRD new gender reveal trend that’s taking off!
Wow
When it comes to gender reveal parties, it seems the methods used to let your nearest and dearest know your baby’s sex just get stranger and stranger.
From cakes to balloons, smoke cannons to pinatas, there are some very creative ways to announce whether your baby is a girl or a boy.
However, the latest trend to take off is truly bizarre – gender reveal LASAGNA.
Villa Italian Kitchen, a US chain of Italian fast food restaurants, are the creators behind gender reveal lasagne, which is made with either pink or blue cheese.
In a post on Facebook advertising the quirky dish, they wrote: “Want a fun way to reveal the gender of your baby?
“Our Gender Reveal Lasagne is your answer! Celebrate your family's new addition with our catering package which includes a cheese lasagne with a pink or blue interior, garlic rolls and salad.”
The cheesy creation even has its own hashtag, #lasagnareveal, on Instagram, as expectant parents share their reveals.
The lasagna has received mixed reactions on social media, and seems to be very much a love-it-or-hate-it concept.
“OMG. Love this idea!” wrote one enthusiastic commenter. Others tagged pregnant friends in saying “please do this!”
But some were very put off by the idea of eating pink or blue dyed cheese.
“Gross to be honest. Hope the Mother isn't ingesting that chemically laden abomination?” wrote one.
“Omg no. I couldnt do food colored lasagne,” shared another.
The gender reveal package costs $140 (around $100 AUD), and feeds around 12 people.
Would you do it?
