Talk is cheap: How did you get your hands on the Ergobaby 360 Baby Carrier?
“A lot of the mothers group mums had the Ergobaby 360 Baby Carrier when I had my first daughter years ago and raved about. So when my sister-in-law fell pregnant with her first child, I bought her one as a gift. She travelled a lot with her son and used it A LOT - for 18 months! Then I fell pregnant with my second daughter, Harlow, and my sister-in-law gave it back to me.The funny thing is, it still looked brand new! You could see how well it was made even after great use.
I used it a lot for Harlow between the age of 3 months and 12 months – and then I sold it for $80. So the $200 it cost me turned out to be a good investment – we got our money’s worth out of it!"
Tell us about the Mummy support and baby weight…?
"The baby carrier is suitable for babies from 5.5kg, so I didn’t use it until Harlow was 3 months (I used the Hug-a-bub for the first three months). When she was little I used the newborn insert to provide extra support for her.
The thing I liked most about the Ergobaby 360 Baby Carrier is the support it provides. My back isn’t that great, so I need a lot of support, and this gave it."
On-the-go mummy: how did you use the Ergobaby 360 Baby Carrier?
"When she was three months plus, I’d do the grocery shopping, walk to school for drop offs and pick-ups and basically carry her around for hours in it! It has a little cover so if it was sunny I could shade her head. And it has little pockets, which were great to keep the house key and cash or card safe without having to lug around a full nappy bag for quick errands.
As Harlow grew and got heavier, at the 12 month mark, I could only carry her for short bursts of 10 minutes or so – mainly because of my back issues. It was great for times when you needed to be hands-free – like grabbing some groceries or doing school runs and child care drops while carrying bags."
Full circle: What’s the best Ergobaby 360 Baby Carrier position?
"Like the name suggests, the 360 can be used different ways - baby on front facing inwards, outwards, and baby on the hip or piggy backing on your back. I only had Harlow on my back once – she was too wriggly for back carrying! I had her on my hip a few times but mainly I carried her front and facing inwards while she was a newborn and wanted to be close to me, and facing outwards when she was six months plus and wanted to see the world."
Mums the word: Would you recommend it?
“Yes! Definitely. It’s well made, well designed, supportive, functional with the pockets and sunshade and adaptable with its multi-position options."
The Motherload: Any ‘cons’?
"It was fiddly to use the first few times. I had to watch the Youtube video and do a few trial runs before I got the knack of it!"
The verdict
"4 1/2 stars."
