A mother has tragically died from massive organ failure and internal bleeding following a caesarean birth of twins.
Police officer’s wife Cindy, 38, had been excitedly awaiting the birth of her and husband Domik’s babies, but she was rushed to hospital after doctors in their home city of Frankfurt noticed her condition deteriorating.
Both the children were born by caesarean but tragically the mother did not get better, and later died.
In a post online, appealing for donations, the police officers trade union in the state of Hessen wrote about the fateful day she died.
They said: “After wanting children for a long time [Domik’s] wife Cindy became pregnant and the children were due in February this year.
“But last week her condition and the condition one of the children worsened. After the operation, a rare condition developed in which organs started to shut down, and she died of internal bleeding.”
The young woman had reportedly fought against the condition for several days before dying on 14 January.
Several people contacted the police to check that the appeal for donations was correct and they confirmed in a Facebook posting that it was genuine.
They added: “Money cannot bring back the wife of our colleague and the mother of the twins, but we want to try and raise donations to help him in this difficult time. All donations will be passed on without any deductions.”
They added: “Our thoughts are with our colleague and we wish him and his two newborn children and the family left behind all the strength in the world in order to get through their painful loss.”
