Toddler disables dad’s iPad for 48 years!

And he discovered how to fix it - thanks to Twitter!

One dad has discovered the hard way that toddlers and iPads are not always a match made in heaven, especially when it comes to password locks.

Evan Osnos, a Washington DC based writer, shared with Twitter that his eager three-year-old was so desperate to get into his iPad that he put in the password incorrectly enough times to lock him out for more than 25 million minutes – that’s 48 years!

Oops.

If you key in an incorrect Ipad password code, the device locks, and with every wrong password it is disabled for longer and longer.

Evan shared a picture of his iPad screen that showed the device was disabled for 25,536,442 minutes.

“Uh, this looks fake but, alas, it’s our iPad today after 3-year-old tried (repeatedly) to unlock. Ideas?” he wrote in the caption.

The Twitter-verse did not disappoint when it came to sharing their advice with the father.

“Time travel seems to be your best bet,” one reader helpfully suggested.

“Reboot your 3-year-old,” wrote another user.

And a personal favourite, “Put it in a bag of rice,” because putting your iProducts in rice fixes everything, right?

In the end Evan ended up restoring the iPad so although he can now use the device again, he’s probably lost any data stored on it.

And one bright spark came up with some genius advice for him

“Next time just give the kid the passcode.”

Do your kids have your passwords to your devices? Do you see a problem with it? Tell us in the comments.
