Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first baby in April, 2019.

Addressing a group of students, the Duke of Sussex, lovingly referred to his baby as 'our little bump'.

Prince Harry was in great spirits when he said, ‘The weather forecast was a lot worse than this and we are really fortunate to be here. The rain is a blessing and a reminder of our connection to the land,’ he said.

The Duke and Duchess had been due to attend a beach barbecue and plant a tree with some students but the rain changed their plans

Instead, they joined the students for tea and cake under the cover of a marquee.

Under the marquee, a kaumatua (elder) from the local iwi (tribe) Barney Thomas spoke in Te Reo Maori, wishing them well with their pepi (baby). Meghan smiled as the words were translated for her.

Harry shrugged off the rain as he spoke to the crowd.

'The weather forecast was a lot worse than this and we are really fortunate to be here. The rain is a blessing and a reminder of our connection to the land. From my wife, myself and our little bump, it's a blessing to be here,' he said.

'We bring you greetings from my grandmother, he said referring to the Queen.

Earlier today the royal couple were forced to evacuate Government House in Wellington after a fire alarm caused panic.
