New trend: Getting glammed up to give birth
What do you think?
Giving birth is a serious business, and generally the first photos taken show an exhausted but smiling mum holding her new bub.
However, an increasing number of new mums are choosing to apply a full face of make-up either before or during labour so they look perfect for those first pics.
Some women are even going as far to have waxes, blow-dries and even spray tans before giving birth.
It seems the rise in popularity of social media influencers, and our addiction to capturing and sharing every moment in our lives may play a part in this new trend.
Mums have been sharing images on Instagram of themselves post-birth looking picture perfect with hashtags such as #hospitalmakeup, #surgeryglam and #cameramama
One mum even went viral for doing a make-up tutorial during her 10-hour labour.
Make-up artist Alaha Karimi spent three hours doing her make-up in order to go “full glam”, applying mink eyelashes, face primer and even contouring.
“I had to keep pausing whenever I’d get a contraction, and I had to catch my breath,” Karimi told ABC News. “But, honestly, doing something I loved helped the time go by so much faster and made everything so much easier.”
