“I may be delusional”

Aussie mum, Car, has shared her shock and disbelief after she sound unsettling content in her 5-year-old sons memory book.

Memory books are a fun way for children to write what they are thinking and feeling at the time and look back on the memories in years to come.

Car expected to find ‘positive’ subjects for her son to reflect back on his time at school, however, on closer inspection of the $24 children’s book, she was shocked at what she discovered.

Online shopping fail- definitely not the cute book I hoped to receive for Mr 5!

Can anyone recommend a nice memory book? Or has anyone made their own and can share for ideas please? I think now I’ve wasted $24 I’ll try to make one in a scrapbook 🤔,” wrote Car.

She shared a page out of the memory book to illustrate just what she was worried about.

One one side of the page are standard sentences you would expect to find in a memory book.

‘My favourite teacher..’ ‘My favourite supervisor…’, ‘My favourite place…’

On the opposite side of the page were harsh and mean lines that you would never expect in a children’s memory book.

‘My most hated teacher…’, ‘My most hated supervisor…’ and ‘My most hated place…’.

I may be delusional, but I’d like it to be positive lol. I’d get upset if he said he hates a teacher 🙊”, posted Car.

Other mums also agreed that the book is completely inappropriate.

I try very hard to discourage my kids from using the word "hate" and I would never encourage them to "hate" a teacher, especially at 5 years old”, said one.

“Maybe change the word “hate” to more positive adjectives “funniest teacher” “most improved grade” “funniest memory” “coolest place to just hang out” added another.

Other mums couldn’t understand what the problem was and thought the book was just a bit of fun.

Said one: “My son would have the right hand side column filled out in 2 seconds 😅.”

Added another: “his ganna (sic) hate a teacher all ur kids will 😂😂...by year 12 love

Do you think the memory book is harmless and just a bit of fun?
