Mum gets AMAZING surprise no-one saw coming at baby’s birth
Wow
Mum Nancy Ray was getting ready to give birth and was anticipating a daughter – her third, as she already has two girls.
But nothing could have prepared her for the shock of a lifetime when she went to hold her new child for the first time and realised it was a baby boy!
After having two girls, Nancy and her husband Will were keen for a boy, and decided to find out the gender of their third baby in advance.
When going for a scan, the couple asked their ultrasound tech to write the gender of the baby in an envelope and then later opened it together to find that they were going have another girl.
Nancy contacted photographer Lauren Jolly and asked her to document the labour and birth of her baby.
“She delivered her baby in the tub and then carried 'her' over to the bed,” Lauren told Café Mom.
“About 10 minutes later, they prepared to cut baby's cord and Nancy exclaimed "What is THAT? Is this a boy baby?!”
The scan had been inaccurate and yes, indeed – the couple were now proud parents to a baby boy.
“Will immediately double checked and fell to his knees," Jolly continues. "We were all in shock and couldn't stop laughing.”
Although it seems strange that the scan would have missed the fact that the baby was a boy, Nancy explained in a blog post that she's only had one ultrasound with each of her pregnancies at around 18 weeks.
The parents decided to name the baby Beaufort, a name they had picked out four years before when Nancy pregnant with their daughter Milly.
