“Half my babies are in heaven, it’s not fair”
Mum opens up about devastating loss
Queensland blogger Joelle Skinner has opened up about losing her baby in a heartbreaking post on Facebook.
Joelle, who blogs at @jedimumtricks, had been nearing the 12-week point in her pregnancy and was hoping to share the happy news with her followers.
“I was so excited to be getting ready to share a beautiful announcement of our much longed for last baby on its way,” the mum of six wrote.
“But instead, I am beyond devastated to be announcing its death.”
Joelle’s baby had stopped living when she was around nine weeks pregnant.
“The next couple of days were a whirlwind involving an ambulance trip to hospital, getting rushed to surgery and being told I could have died too,” she says.
“Why am I sharing this? Mostly because I want the world to know that our beautiful baby exists and that we are heartbroken.
"Also, I believe with all my heart that we should not suffer in silence, taboos need to be broken in order to properly grieve and understand each other.
“There is a statistic that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss. Well I’m not too sure about these statistics because I’ve been pregnant 9 times now, 3 have miscarried and 1 was stillborn full term.
That’s almost half my babies in heaven, it’s just not fair!”
