Mum of premature bub left in tears after she reads what nurse REALLY thinks of her...

She found the note and is devastated

February 27 2019

The mum of a premature baby was left in tears when she read a hospital note questioning how good she was as a mother.

After the baby was born early she was whisked to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at the hospital.

And while her mother was reading the medical notes, she noticed there were comments about whether she was spending enough time with her daughter.

Taking to the Mumsnet forum pages, she explained what had happened.

"I'm in tears," the mum known only as NicuProblem said. "Requested my baby's medical notes after a prem birth. Found a part where apparently they started a visiting log as they felt we didn't stay on the ward long enough, that I wasn't talkative enough and that my husband "rarely visited."

The mum then went on to explain that the reason she didn't visit her daughter as much as she would like is because she has a child with special needs at home and she finds it tough to travel in to the hospital.

"I don't drive and have an older child with disabilities. My husband works and at that time was working night shifts. They KNEW this."

"I feel distraught by this notion that at my most vulnerable when I was trying my best I was judged as somehow not good enough."

Other mums were very quick to re-assure the distraught mum that she should not take the note personally - however hard that might be.

"It was an observation, not a judgment," wrote one user, who said that the poor mum was feeling very sensitive after the birth.

"Don’t take it personally," added another user who claimed to work in a maternity ward. "Nothing of huge concern came from it, and it’s just something that staff are required to do."

What do you think of the note?
