Monopoly launches helpline to resolve family arguments

It's the cause of many family fights.

December 21 2016

Hasbro has launched a hotline to help resolve family disputes over Monopoly after research found that half of all games end in acrimony.

Of the 2,000 adults surveyed, 51 per cent said their sessions ended in squabbles, most often caused by “making up the rules, buying a property someone else wants, taking too long, stealing from the bank and being too cocky when things are going their way.”

The hotline will be on hand from the 24th to the 26th December, utilising the official rulebook to settle any disputes as well as offering advice on how to resolve common complaints.

Craig Wilkins, Marketing Director of Hasbro UK & Ireland, said: “Monopoly is one of the best-loved board games of all time, because it’s a way for families to spend some quality time together.

“However, our research found that Monopoly games can regularly end in chaos, with some friends and family members stopping at nothing to win.”

Unfortunately, the 0800 689 4903 number is a UK one, so us Aussies might incur some hefty charges should we need to ring. But saving your family's sanity might just be worth it.
