An Instagram model has admitted to subsisting on a diet of “cigarettes, long blacks and coke” to maintain her slender frame until she realised she was actually pregnant.
Social media model Ruby Tuesday Matthews made the admission in her Instagram stories when a fan asked her how she managed to stay so slim.
The 25-year-old revealed that drug use is rife in the social media industry, claiming that most 'influencers' took drugs to maintain their weight.
The mother-of-two says she quit using drugs when she found out she was pregnant and that she was worried her drug use may have harmed her unborn baby in some way.
“I was so thin and I was partying a lot and no one thought I would be able to fall pregnant,” she said.
As a teenager, she had also suffered a miscarriage at age 16, then experienced depression as a result and even contemplated suicide at one point.
The Byron Bay influencer added that she hoped that talking about her past trauma would guide others in a similar struggle.
“I have battled with mental health demons on and off for most of my life. It is a topic I am going to be talking about a lot more this year,” she said.
