The royal family’s gift policyreveals they can accept and use gifts from individuals, provided they cost less than GBP £150 (AUD $276).
If the gift cost exceeds that amount, they can be given back to the person or gifted to 'another body or organisation [who] might be able to make better use of them than the Member of the Royal Family' or treated as an 'official gift'.
The royal family release a list of gifts received on a yearly basis. The information includes who and where it came from as well as what it was a who it was for.
Prince Harry, 34, is touring Australia with pregnant wife Meghan Markle, 37, to help herald the start of Invictus Games, a Paralympic-style contest for wounded, sick and injured servicemen and women and veterans, which starts in Sydney this weekend.
