A young mum on her P-Plates has come under major fire after she did a large burnout in her car, with her 10-month-old baby in the backseat.

She has acknowledged that she "stuffed up".

The 23-year-old woman was arrested over the incident that occurred on Orange Grove Road in Liverpool, south-west Sydney on Friday.

The burnout was in a modified Holden Calais, with police passing through the area catching her in the act.

"I just happened to go over a speed hump and put my foot down, I wasn't doing a big burnout, I know I stuffed up," she told Nine News.

The woman's partner also apologized, saying "it was a stupid move."

"We could have hurt or even killed somebody. But you know... we are very very sorry and we want every young person out there to just take care on the road," he said.

"It's just not worth it."

The woman was charged with a $561 fine for driving a prohibited vehicle, $263 for not displaying P plates and $112 for not having her license with her, which has been suspended.

She has also been issued a notice to appear at Liverpool Local Court on July 17 for the alleged burnout.

The couple has asked for their identity to remain private during this time.
